Be sure you have read and prepared yourself for this Timed Writing by ensuring you have read the novel for the class.

First – make sure we are all on the same page – be sure you understand what “Bias” means. This is the definition I will be using. First go to this citation and read about what this word means according the OED.

On this site, you are given 24 different types of bias. Read through the bias’ and ask yourself this important question – “do I have bias that influence my understanding of the novel”. If you are thinking “No – I don’t have any bias that influences the reading – then I want to point out to you FLAT OUT = THAT MEANS YOU AREN’T CRITICALLY THINKING!!!! Bias is human. We are all influenced by all sorts of things – for example, I totally have “Just World Hypothesis” bias.

You will have 60 minutes to submit the following prompt – You can only submit once – so be sure once you have read the novel, read the resources above, that you consider the question on the next page – and submit it within 60 minutes into the text box.
