THIS TOPIC SHOULD BE THE SAME FOR ALL PIECES WRITTEN FROM THIS BUNDLE! This bundle requires students to work with a single topic. That topic can be chosen by students; however, it must fall within the following parameters: Take a look at the The Constitution of the United States of America – get comfortable with the Articles and Amendments. Identify one that inspires additional investigation. Please make sure that it ties back to a CURRENT TOPIC OF INTEREST. We do not want it to be historically focused. Example: The Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, can be used as the debate on stricter gun laws, as well as whether or not citizens should be allowed to have fire arms, is a hot topic. This topic must be the focal point of all three Writing Experiences – no exceptions. Make sure there is enough information available to draft them. Be aware that a single topic may touch back to multiple Articles/Amendments. Example: Red Flag Laws correlate to the Second, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment – the right to bear arms, unlawful search and seizures, and due process. Genre Specific Guidelines This Writing Experience requires doing some basic research and analysis. Based on the Reporting content in the Chapter 22: Informative reading, students are to: Research the Universal Topic mentioned above. Learn as much as humanly possible about the topic – the history, the evolution, the debates…anything of importance. Please make sure the sources used for investigation are credible. Internet websites are allowed; however, students are encouraged to use the ACC Database for reliable sources. Struggling to research the topic? No worries – use the Research Support – The Embedded Librarian discussion board. Our course has its own private research librarian! Summarize, explain, and educate the audience on the topic. There should be absolutely NO opinion, NO positional statements, NO controversy or persuasion. Simply regurgitate information to the reader. Quote content from sources if necessary; however, go easy on using outside sources.
