Review your results. Then discuss, how accurate do you think the results were. Why or why not, and can you give any examples to support this? Then discuss how your current work either supports or does not support your work motivation profile. What would an ideal job look like in your chosen field or industry in terms of its motivational properties for you? (or, do you need to be in another field to find this type of motivation?) Be sure to connect it to some of the key ideas from the motivation literature (e.g. need for social interaction, achievement, status, altruism, etc.), citing sources as appropriate.
Discuss how one or two of the theories of motivation studied this week helped you better understand a current or past situation you have encountered in work or other organizational context involving other people, for example peers, direct reports, a department, etc. Be sure to , briefly describe the theory, citing the textbook and other materials. Then, discuss what insight it has given you over a real situation you have faced.
Note: Do not choose Maslow’s theory. This is a foundational theory upon which others are built. If you like Maslow, consider using Herzberg’s or ERG which are similar.
