Statistics Assignment
You should be uploading a single Word document with(1) the the output of the final jamovi results (please remove any results that are not germane to the questions at hand!);(2) a written explanation of (a) what you did, (b) why you did it, and (c) what it means, i.e., interpretation of your results, written as Results section; your ANALYSIS, in other words. Here’s the problem:Psychologists (Kimmel & Keefer, 1993) ran a study to see (among other things) if college students differed on the variable of MACHiavellianism (i.e., behavior characterized by Machiavellian principles; cunning, duplicitous, the belief that the end justifies any means). Their four hypotheses were that (1) men would be higher than women in MACHiavellianism (possibly due to sex differences in child rearing), and that (2) students in each class would become less MACHiavellian over the course of their four years in college (perhaps due to maturation and time spent considering their values), so Sophomores would be less MACHiavellian than Freshmen, etc.. In addition, they hypothesized that (3) students’ self-MONITORing scores would be negatively correlated with their MACHiavellianism scores (i.e., that those that paid the most attention to their own behavior would be the least MACHiavellian), and that (4) GPA would not be correlated with MACHiavellianism. The psychologists brought men and women into the lab and gave them the appropriate scales. SEX was coded females=1, males=2. CLASS was coded Freshmen=1, up to Seniors=4. Higher scores mean higher levels of both MACHiavellianism and self-MONITORing. GPA is not actual GPA, but rather an ordinal range of GPAs (see the file for the ranges).Use jamovi to test these four hypotheses. The data you need will be emailed to you. Save it to your computer with your other jamovi files. The variable names are in ALL CAPS, BOLD AND UNDERLINED in the above paragraphs; however the variable names are NOT capitalized in the data file! They’re only capitalized on this sheet so you can find the correct variable names easily. Don’t use variables with other names! The file is called “rumors##.omv” (where ## is the number assigned to you). You should simply “open” the file in jamovi. There are many variables in the data set; only pay attention to the ones mentioned above! If you have any trouble accessing this file, let me know at once; I will help you with getting access to the data. Other than that, you’re on your own.Good Luck! Remember that this is to be your own work; any indication that you have collaborated in any way will result in failure of the entire final. You may, of course, use your notes or look at other programs that YOU have done (but not the notes or programs that others have done), or even those YouTube videos I keep telling you about.Your answer will be judged on (1) how accurately you answer the questions posed by the hypotheses, (2) the correct use of jamovi, and (4) how elegant your solution is (i.e., is your solution the best one possible, supplying the most information with the fewest procedures, etc.). Please note that you are expected, as always, to interpret your results (i.e., tell me what it means; see 2c. above). For more information on Statistics Assignment check this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=Statistics+Assignment+&title=Special%3ASearch&go=Go&ns0=1
