Focus on the one space shown in the attachment for Parts A & B
Audio Studio #2 (154).

Part A:

 Focus on general NOISE CONTROL strategies for this space, including the following characteristics:

– Think about the topics we learned about in class & how they apply to this type of space.

* Assumption what the sound sources are in the room ( including the mechanical equipment).
* Sound generation and Propagation
* Sound fundementals
* Noise Exposure and Criteria
* correlated and uncorrelated sources
* Transmission loss

o What partition transmission loss ratings & example assembly types are appropriate?

o What specific noise sources (occupants, MEP, etc.) should the client be on the look out for in this type of space?

o What indoor sound levels/criteria are appropriate for this type of space?

 Do not focus on general ROOM ACOUSTIC strategies (e.g., room shaping, surface materials,reverb, etc.). The focus is noise control.

 Assume your clients have a basic understanding of acoustics. Do not spend time explaining fundamental concepts (e.g., frequency, units like dBA, or metrics like NC). If there are new
metrics/units we have not used in class you can briefly show them.

Part B:

 Examine the proposed mechanical system to this space and the following acoustical characteristics:

o Are the supply and return airflows suitable for this noise criteria at the diffusers/returngrilles? (Refer to ASHRAE Ch. 48 Table 9)
Advanced Noise Control.

o Are the ducts sized appropriately to meet this noise criteria? (Refer to ASHRAE Ch. 48 Table 8).

o Comment on the general layout of the system (location of VAV box, transitions, diffuser placement.)
