<Write a 3-4-page essay on one of the two questions listed below, based on the question that you were assigned on D2L. The paper is due at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 1. Five points (out of 100) will be deducted from late papers five minutes after the deadline, and five more points will be deducted for every additional 24-hour period that the paper has not been submitted.

The essay should be in 12-point, Times New Roman font, double-spaced and with 0 point space before or after paragraphs, with 1” margins on all sides. Before the deadline, you must submit an electronic copy of the paper in a .doc or .docx file to Dropbox on the course D2L page. You can find the link to Dropbox on the menu bar at the top of the course homepage. I will deduct points from papers that do not follow all of these submission guidelines. Successful answers will utilize significant material from the book in responding to the question. Be sure to cite all evidence used in the paper—whether it is a quotation, a summary of an author’s point, or even a simple fact—using parenthetical references with the page number in the book where you found the information, i.e., Green writes, “The invention of dynamite had changed the calculus of power. Now the weakest, most wretched elements of society had a weapon that could inflict incalculable damage” (10). Or, if it’s not a quote: Green contends that dynamite provided a new and potent weapon for groups practicing political violence (10). There’s no need to include a “Works Cited” page. All work on this assignment must be your own, and the use of sources from outside of the course is not permitted.
