PSA Annotated Bibliography
This assignment is your initial research-gathering stage for creating your own PSA campaign. Annotated bibliographies have a very specific format. Please do not submit a traditional essay. This assignment type is to help your final project so it has to follow the specific format for that reason 🙂
Topic Assignments: below find your name and your assigned topic in the scope of college students. You must use this topic for this essay and your final essay. You may not change your topic or trade (this is to keep it manageable for you in this short time we have).
Mental Health: Remla
Once I have assigned your campaign project topic you’ll set out to create an annotated bibliography of five sources as your topic relates to college. For instance, if I had assigned relationships as a topic you’d seek out research that talks about relationships in college (friendships, romantic, networking, professorial, etc). This is not a group assignment. It is individual, but having multiple students do the same topic it makes discussion boards more useful for you since multiple people can discuss topics together, if applicable/necessary!
Three sources must come from the Collin College electronic database and be peer-reviewed journal articles. See the first module for info on how to access the databases. The other two sources may come from sources of your choosing but it is essential you are using reliable websites to conduct your research. That means you need to avoid questionable websites like 10reasons___isgreat.com, blogs, and other places where people can publish unreliable information. If you’re struggling send me an email with the source you’re considering. But in general if you think it might be unreliable it probably is.
For each source you’ll create an MLA works cited entry. Below that you’ll write your annotation. Each source should have three paragraphs: a summary, analysis, and assessment of the source. See The Purdue OWL page (Links to an external site.) (link) for what this looks like and what these paragraphs should look like.
You do not need an introduction or a conclusion. Annotated bibliographies are merely a way to choose sources you think you might use for a larger project. Good research now means less work later.
To sum up: you will create an annotated bibliography of five sources on a topic I give you. Three must come from peer-reviewed electronic journals and two others may be from reliable sources of your choosing. Each source will have three paragraphs: one that summarizes, one that analyzes, and one that assesses.
I will provide feedback on drafts that are submitted on time to the peer review dropbox. Final drafts will be graded using the rubric you can find on the “home” area of our page.
