Argumentative Research Paper

The essay should be 3-4 pages in length, double spaced, with 12 font print, and one inch margins. It should follow the MLA style. You must submit a works cited page and provide in-text citation. This assignment is graded for content, but also for the formal requirements of a research paper.

This paper is to be an argumentative research paper, based on your debate topic. Be sure to provide a rationale for your perspective and evidence. Consult the Gordon Rule Rubric for an indication of the factors other than content on which the paper will be evaluated.

Writing Tips for a philosophy paper

In general, it may be helpful to keep the following in mind regarding philosophy papers:

“A philosophy paper presents a reasoned defense of some thesis. So a philosophy paper typically does at least one of the following:

Defend a thesis by offering plausible reasons to support it
Defend a thesis by showing that arguments against it are unconvincing
Criticize a thesis by showing that the arguments for it are unconvincing
Contrast two or more views on a given issue and argue for one view over the other.”
