What kind of article?? REMEMBER:
• An article that provides data on your topic. You should talk with your group and find out
which of the specific guideline questions your group still needs to answer. The article
may need to look specifically at cultural differences, or any other research. Review the
specific guidelines, but remember, your article is not intended to ANSWER ALL of those
questions. Your final presentation will do that at the end of the semester.
• Your article MUST have been published in a journal. This means NO blogs, WebMD
posts/articles, books, etc. Using the library search engine or Google Scholar will help you
find these types of articles.
• An article that has been published within the last 10 years is best. I will accept an article
in the 2000s (unless we’ve already discussed this). (See Reviewing Scholarly Articles for
tips.)
How do I review it? REVIEW THE COMMENTS AND RUBRIC FROM THE FIRST ARTICLE REVIEW.
I will grade harder this time as I expect you to learn from the first review.
Your review should include:
1. Your name, topic, and date as a cover page. If you list the title of the article, make sure
you start with “Review of…”. Don’t only put the title of the article. (10 points)
2. A summary of the article (information, findings of the study, etc.), in your own words.
You can include actual data or percentages, but summarize the wording. This
assignment will be checked for verification of originality (plagiarism). You will need to
receive a match of less than 15%. The summary should be about ½ to 1 page. Just
summarize the key points. (50 points)
3. An APA citation of your article on a Reference page. We discussed citations in the lab,
but you can also review the page on Canvas Citations and resources for doing citations.
(20 points)
**And the review should be turned in on time with limited grammatical errors (less than 5).
(20 points for < 5 errors, 10 points for 5-10 errors, 0 points for more than 10 errors) Read
through the document with tips on reviewing articles and review comments from your first
article review.
Assignment:
Upload up to 1-page, double-spaced review of your article in APA format (12 pt font, doublespaced, 1 inch margins). You should have a total of three pages: the cover page, the actual
review, and a reference page. College level writing!! Get help reviewing if you need to. Go to
the school’s tutorial services and ask for writing help, if needed.
Your file should be in .doc or .docx format. You will be limited to these two file types. If you
need another, please email me.
