Be a Cubist

We want to gain an understanding of Cubism and Pablo Picasso’s landmark painting, Les Demoiselles d’ Avignon (1907). that is especially helpful to hands-on and visual learners to show how an artist might create a Cubist drawing of an object. It explains each step of the process.

This week, using the above video as a guide, create your own Cubist pencil drawing of a tea or coffee cup, drinking glass, or calculator on regular 8.5″ x 11″ paper and post a photo of your drawing to this discussion board:

the assigned object drawn multiple times, from different viewpoints, using

erasure;

cross-hatching;

stippling; and

shading, loosened or smudged.

Thoughtfully appreciate your classmates’ drawings and “reply” to a minimum of two of your classmates’ postings by briefly observing what qualities their drawing shares with Picasso’s Les Demoiselles.
