BIM Term Project Proposal
Objectives: The main objective of the term project is to develop your understanding of a specific BIM
use. To achieve this, the term project has been developed to align with the following course objectives:
• Each student will develop the requirements needed and be able to explain the integration of
advanced BIM use with earlier BIM models.
• Each student will demonstrate knowledge in an advanced BIM use, following it from planning to
implementation in a demonstration example through a semester project.
• Each student will be able to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
Background: Now that you have started to develop
your knowledge of different BIM uses in industry
and using your own skills and interests, you are
tasked with developing and implementing your
own BIM use. This proposal activity is designed to
help you articulate your semester long project. In
this project, you are expected to focus on one
advanced BIM use case. Each student is
recommended to choose a use case related to
their chosen option. The assignment will be broken
into steps: first a project proposal (individual),
followed by a development plan (as a team), and
then the project. There will be a mid-project
deliverable (team and individual), and the final
project with a final report, presentation, and
project files (team and individual).
