Capitalism: Where Do We Come From

1) After reading “Capitalism: Where Do We Come From”, write one-page on the following question (at least two full paragraphs, typed, double spaced): “What are some of the most important historical changes that lead to the emergence of capitalism as an economic system?” (Make sure to use your voice and avoid unintentional plagiarism.)

2) . Read the New York Times or an equivalent newspaper or news magazine at least three times a week. Pay particular attention to articles that are connected to economics and public policy. (These can be found in any section of the paper and are not concentrated in the business section. It could be an article discussing the economic impact of some public policy or the impact of football season on entertainment spending. Economics permeates many topics.)

Based on your newspaper reading for this week, choose one article your read on any economic topic. Choose an article that has length (more than only a couple paragraphs long). Write a summary of the article (in your words) and why you found it interesting (two-full paragraphs typed). Can you connect the article to any concepts you read about in question 1?
