The purpose of this assignment is for you develop a more thorough understanding of your career goals and to show that you are considering what you will do once you earn your degree. Also, the purpose of this assignment is to connect students to Career Services for individualized coaching for assistance in transition after graduation and continuation of success in pursuit of professional, personal, and academic goals. Students will utilize the one on one coaching session to address specific questions and concerns and receive tailored direction and guidance from career professionals at APUS.
Background:
An important step in understanding your future career and what you want to do is by creating a create goal. In this assignment, you will create a career goal and meet with a career services coach. This is a two-part assignment that must be completed by the end of Week 5.
Directions and grading:
Part One:
What do you enjoy doing? What subjects have you most/least enjoyed studying? List aspects of your previous experience that you most/least liked. If you could do anything you wanted, what would it be? What are some of your greatest accomplishments?
What are you hoping for in a career? What type of work schedule do you want? What is your desired salary? What will you not accept in a job offer? Is a long commute a deal breaker? You can make a list of must have items and items that you do not want.
Do you know the skill requirements for your next desired job? Do you currently possess this experience?
Are you in the military? If so, when do you plan on separating, or are you using your degree to transition to being an officer?

(to be a police officer) This should be a statement that is at least 100 words long and shows what you want in your career such as salary, benefits, and other requirements such as distance and commuting time to the job. You should also include some of the items from your list in #2 above – highlighting what you do and do not want in a job.
