Assignment Overview
 Identify an issue/problem/concern related to one of the themes in They Say, I Say (Chapter 16: “How Can We Bridge the Differences that Divide Us”, Chapter 18: “Are We in a Race Against the Machine?”, Chapter 19 “What’s Gender Got to Do with It?”, or Chapter 20: “What’s There to Eat?”. Conduct primary and/or secondary research on your problem, advocate for a solution (or solutions), choose a specific audience/person who can affect the type of change you want to see, and complete a 5-6 page problem/solution proposal in which you persuade an audience to do whatever you’re recommending as a solution to address your identified problem.
 We are spending the semester talking about rhetoric/argumentation, academic writing, conducting research, and examining multiple viewpoints surrounding an argument or issue. You will use all of what you’ve learned to accomplish one of the most important writing tasks you will ever complete: writing for change.

Your sources are your evidence, not your claims. You can have multiple sources supporting one claim. Your argument will be strengthened by acknowledging multiple and opposing viewpoints.
