Assignment Overview Identify an issue/problem/concern related to one of the themes in They Say, I Say (Chapter 16: “How Can We Bridge the Differences that Divide Us”, Chapter 18: “Are We in a Race Against the Machine?”, Chapter 19 “What’s Gender Got to Do with It?”, or Chapter 20: “What’s There to Eat?”. Conduct primary and/or secondary research on your problem, advocate for a solution (or solutions), choose a specific audience/person who can affect the type of change you want to see, and complete a 5-6 page problem/solution proposal in which you persuade an audience to do whatever you’re recommending as a solution to address your identified problem. We are spending the semester talking about rhetoric/argumentation, academic writing, conducting research, and examining multiple viewpoints surrounding an argument or issue.
