Critical Analysis Task

The narrator painstakingly describes the many physical items and emotional weights (such as grief, fear, shame, longing, etc…) the men carried. Beyond this, what else might their humping through the jungles symbolize? From a historical perspective, what did the soldiers of Vietnam “carry” for American society?
