Nursing Innovation: Co-authorship of Scholarly Writing
Nurses are deeply engaged in system transformation because they care about human health and about delivering responsible health care. But more than caring, it is the professional and social responsibility of nurses to take a strong leadership stand on behalf of Canadians.
Nurses are constantly faced with issues when striving to provide better health, better care and better value in health care to Canadians. These are issues that require an understanding of the complexity, inter-relatedness, breadth and scope before coming to a resolution and providing transformative solutions.
Rather than a move to solve problems, an in-depth analysis of issues includes an exploration of barriers that makes visible the complexity of the issue. This exploration moves us past the notion that any one strategy could move an issue to resolution. To articulate an issue fully means to consider the historical, ethical and legal, social and cultural, political, critical feminist or economic realities on and through which issues are constructed” (McIntyre & McDonald, 2014, p. 5).
