Do individuals in wealthy states have an obligation to alleviate global poverty?

-The module is ethics & international politics, The focus is making connections between important philosophical approaches to international ethics and global justice and the current practice of states, major non-state and inter-state actors, and even individuals in the international realm.

1. What follows from the idea that we should regard all people has having equal value? Does it entail any concrete requirements to act (or abstain from acting) in particular ways?

2. What does global egalitarianism mean? Is it an attractive position?

3. In which circumstances, if any, is it permissible to prioritize compatriots?

-I have uploaded some sources like suggested readings, should be useful. Please also include an around 1xx words abstract, and the essay can be around 29xx words.

Here is something the lecturer sent, don’t know if it helps:
In general, if you write an ethical essay – or at least, if you write an ethical essay in response to the questions I set for you – you should write it with two aims in mind: first, you need to make an argument. Every question specifically and explicitly asks you to “pick a side” in one way or another, so pick a side! (Though it’s always fine to then qualify your “side”, i.e., answer something like “Yes, but…” or “No, but…”).

Second, however, you need to convince the reader that you’re right. It’s not enough to pick a side – you need to try and get the reader on your side, too. An essay will fail in this aim if you don’t provide arguments for your side, or if you provide weak arguments for your side, or if you provide a bunch of arguments and claims which are poorely supported and explained. (Also, though in practice the reader is me, you should imagine a reader who is interested in the topic but not as familiar with it as you are – so don’t assume they know everything you do, but hold their hand through the literature).
