Each class you should upload your reading notes to Canvas by time due. You may add addendums to notes during and shortly after our class sessions, but I will be grading them —-. We will evaluate this method of holding you accountable for reading mid-semester. This will be graded as incomplete/complete for the first unit for you to practice this style of note taking and analysis, and then starting in unit 2 (week 5), a point scale will be used. 100 of our 150 engagement points will be allotted to this weekly homework assignment and averaged in your final attendance & engagement points at the end of the semester.

Your notes should be written in this format in no more than one page per reading answering:

What point is the Author(s) trying to make? (i.e. the main take-away argument)
What details (2-3 quotes) can you pull from the reading to support this?
In one overall paragraph, how do the readings relate to one another (their connection if you were putting the authors in conversation)? What is your reaction (in a few sentences?)
These notes serve primarily as a form of accountability for you to keep up on your readings (and practice detailing the argument) as we know with your busy schedules it can be hard to stay on top of these things.
