Education Reading Presenter
Every student will participate in presenting a reading in some way.
The student is expected to have conducted a close reading of the assigned material. To present, the student(s) will:
introduce the author, having researched him/her – where does this person work, what are his/her credentials (in other words, what makes him//her a reliable source in this topic?), and what else has this person done professionally ( an example or two, does not need to be a complete list)
In your presentation, provide something other than talking only. This can be a film clip, handout on key vocabulary or terms, guided notes, powerpoint or google slides, an activity, etc.
Summarize the overarching objective of the paper or reading
Provide some specifics of the reading that are important to understand – explain the details (within reason)
Develop interesting and thoughtful discussion questions – each person should develop 2 questions, but you may not have time to ask them all if there are several presenters
Ask the questions and facilitate the discussion in class – this can be challenging on days when students may not respond a lot, but think of ways to encourage responses.
Write a half to one-page max. summary of the reading and include your discussion questions. Submit on Canvas. Make sure your name is on the paper
