empathy To Kill A Mockingbird Assignments | Custom Homework Help
ISU
This ISU provides the opportunity to read and analyze a novel independently. The assignment consists of 2 literary paragraphs on stories of your choice, and a non-fiction project/presentation. There will be time given in class to work on the ISU, but the majority will be worked on at home. This assignment is worth 15% of your mark.
READING:
You will receive some class time to read silently and to take notes. It is expected that you will remember to bring your ISU book to class, as you will not be permitted to work on any other task during this time. This time may also be used for you to conference with me about the observations you are making and the progress you are making. However, most of the reading and note taking will occur independently.
NOTE TAKING:
Once you begin reading, you are required to take point form notes. These notes will be used to help you write the paragraphs. Notes are essential as they will provide you with arguments and support needed to be successful on the paragraph component. You may find that a separate spiral ring notebook will help you keep track of your notes and stay organized. Another method some students prefer is placing colour coded Post It Notes directly within the pages.

Paragraphs (2)
Paragraphs will follow proper literary structure with a focus on analysis. They will also follow the rules of formal writing and MLA format. For each paragraph you will be provided with templates that will guide your writing. These requirements will be discussed at length in class and practiced during the short story unit.
Non Fiction Component
You will research a nonfiction topic found in your novel and create a visual essay or video outlining the past, present and possible future of your issue. Further instruction and assessment will be provided.
Presentation
The final element is a five/ten-minute presentation in which you share your visual essay or video and provide discussion points for the class.
