Environmental deregulation policies

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an agency of the United States federal government whose mission is to protect human and environmental health. It has broad rule-making powers and can initiate judicial proceedings in court against suspected violators of federal environmental laws. The EPA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The EPA is responsible for creating standards and laws promoting the health of individuals and the environment. Overall, the major responsibility of the EPA is to oversee programs that promote energy efficiency, environmental stewardship, sustainable growth, air and water quality, and pollution prevention.
An environmental policy is a written statement that outlines the aims and principles in relation to managing the environmental effects and aspects of its operations. Environmental policy can include laws and policies addressing water and air pollution, chemical and oil spills, smog, drinking water quality, land conservation and management, and wildlife protection, such as the protection of endangered species.
Our nation’s five most effective pieces of environmental legislation are the Clean Air Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Montreal Protocol, the Clean Water Act, and Reformation Plan No. 3 of 1970 (established EPA). Because of these laws, the health of Americans and the environment they inhabit have dramatically improved—that is, up until now.

Content: The extra-credit assignment asks you to look at the said mission of the EPA and wants your overall opinion on the environmental deregulation policies that are being implemented during the current administration, in particular, as they relate to air- and water-related deregulation policies.
