Ethics Assignment (2 pages)

Many aspects of a successful compliance and ethics program can be evidenced by documentation that supports the effectiveness of the program. However, like other entity-level controls (an effective code of ethics is considered an entity-level control), employee perceptions and buy-in may significantly influence the success of a compliance and ethics program. Unfortunately, there is little “audit trail” evidencing whether employees perceive the value and importance of a compliance program. As a result, the CCO (Chief Compliance Officer)

has asked internal audit to develop and conduct a survey to help gain a better understanding of employees’ perceptions of the company’s compliance and ethics program.

The results of the survey are attached.   You are to write a memo to the CCO analyzing the survey results (strengths and weaknesses).  This is not a research paper; however, you can do some research if you wish to help you complete the assignment.

1) For purposes of this memo, you should group your analysis into 4-5 logical categories.  You don’t have to

discuss each survey question individually.

2) While some statistics are appropriate, keep in mind your audience.  You don’t want a memo which is nothing

more than repeating the survey results.

3) Where there are issues, you should recommend appropriate actions to be taken.  Think about the possible root cause(s) of each issue when coming up with your recommendations.

4) In addition to the survey, you must indicate what other procedures internal audit may recommend be

performed to provide the CCO information on the effectiveness of the company’s compliance and ethics program. Surveys have limitations.
