Ethnographic Essay

In Ethnographic research (Ch. 9 in Curious Writer) , we often study the cultural web through reading–books, cultural artifacts, environments, and personal stories or interviews. In our study of Sherman Alexie’s Native American world, readers experience some of what Alexie has described as living in the “in-between”. Research for a 4-page (minimum) Ethnographic essay in which you discover and reveal the following in written essay form:
1) how the cultural web of the Native American appears (answers WHAT? does it look like)
2) how the cultural web of the Native American differs in tribalism (concept Alexie discussed in his interview) from the rest of Western Civilization (answers HOW? in Comparison/Contrast)
3) how the cultural web of the Native American views alcoholism AND
4) how YOU view Native American Spirituality and/or Spiritualism
Have 4 total sources in this paper: articles or videos assigned for the week, Alexie’s book, and any other sources. Consider using the 90%/10% ratio for your written product with 90% from you and only 10% from other sources. Give the sources in the paragraphs and on the last page for the References list.
*I do not need a cover page. I do need a clever title centered in 12-sized font on page 1 at the top. Please place your name at the very end of the essay with the date.
**You may use first person pronoun (I) in this essay but do NOT use it in the first sentence of any paragraph.
***IF you perform a personal interview of a subject matter expert for this paper, use the APA format for personal communication. This means that you would need to give the first initial and last name of the person you interview with the date of the communication, and the words “personal communication”. An example is below:
