Farmer’s Site Plan

Farmer’s Market Site Map Assignment
This is an individually graded assignment.  Each student will work independently and submit an individual assignment.
Congrats! You’ve been hired to create a start-up farmer’s market. Your event production agency was hired by a name-brand utility in town that wants to host a farmer’s market series.
Working with your client, you have identified the following goals & objectives for the project: create a sense of community, encourage healthy habits by increasing access to fresh produce for local residents and increase brand awareness & positive impressions for their company.
What is a Farmer’s Market? Check out this helpful guide “How to Run a Farmer’s Market (Links to an external site.)” https://www.mass.gov/guides/how-to-run-a-farmers-market#-what-is-a-farmers-market?- for some background information and tips that go well beyond the site plan design.
PART 1: CREATE THE SITE MAP  [15 points]
Using Google Earth, create a site map for a farmers market.  Select a city-owned & operated park within Phoenix, Scottsdale, or Tempe city park system.  Use powerpoint as demonstrated in class OR you may use Adobe or any CAD system you’re familiar with.  Be sure to submit your document in Microsoft Word or .pdf form so that I can open and grade your submission.
Drop in 15 farmer’s market vendor booths that are roughly 10×10 feet each.
Remain close to SCALE. [This means that your 10×10 booth sizes makes sense relative to the area.  A booth that is 10 feet wide does not look as large as 3 parking spaces.]
Number/label each vendor booth.  You may use a list, numbering, lettering or color system, or other ways to communicate the vendor locations.  Consider what would help your guests/vendors find their way around the event.
Give your map a header title & a legend. Be sure to note directional orientation.
Plan for logistical needs.  Add items, label them, communicate them to readers. Examples could include: parking, sanitation, hospitality areas for food and any other safety elements as discussed in class.
Create a second blank powerpoint slide, then answer the questions below.

PART TWO: SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS
Why did you choose this park venue in particular over other options to create a successful farmer’s market series? [5 points]

No venue is perfect. What site layout or environmental element is you a potential threat to the success of this event? [5 points]

Submit ONE document.  you can use adobe .pdf or Microsoft Powerpoint.  Please include both the map and the questions in one document, multiple pages are fine.  Do not share google docs or other cloud-based docs.
Refer back to text book, class lecture notes and sample docs for help.
Download google earth or find a computer where you can access this website/service.
