Geography Google Earth

1) Download and install Google Earth Pro onto your computer (or device) from https://www.google.com/earth/versions/#earth-pro (using Google maps for this exercise will not work)2) go to the “layers” section of the window (bottom right corner) and check the box titled “Global Awareness” and then click the triangle to make all the internal layers cascade down which will reveal the layers Fair Trade Certified, Global Heritage, UNDP Millennium Development Goals Monitor, UNEP Atlas of Our Changing Environment, UNICEF Water and Sanitation, WaterAid, WWF Conservation Projects(among others). Each agency’s activities have a corresponding icon identifying the location of a project.3) Focus in on one, or multiple regions, that we have discussed in class and identify one, or more projects, related to each of the above layers (note: not every agency has an ongoing project in every region). For your assessment you will need to write one or two paragraphs for each of the above agency layers stating:a) The name of the country within which the activity is taking place and where the project is located geographically within that country (identifying the physical context as best as possible).b) The nature of the project and what they are doing (clicking on the links provided and combining it with what is identified in the pop-up window in google earth) or issue they are addressing. This should be your synthesis, not simply a copying and pasting of online text.c)Any positive outcomes or negatives/challenges discussed or identified for each project.You can use the spacing provided on the next pages to TYPE in your answers (feel free to use more space than what is provided. Be sure to include your name at the top of this page. Upload the finished assessment to the course’s Assignments folder on Canvas by the due date provided.
