Guidelines for the DNP’s Role in EBP
The doctorally prepared advanced practice nurse must understand what research translation means. Read the assigned chapters in your texts and the links/articles in the keynote as you begin to explore the concept. Teamwork and collaboration among members of the healthcare team is a vital aspect of implementing evidence-based practice. Use the following grading rubric to guide you in discovering your role related to translating evidence.
Proceed to forums to complete the assignment
You must complete your discussion as your initial post and then cross post to at least two of your peers. This is a threaded DISCUSSION among peers and NOT a formal paper. Try to picture your class as sitting around a table and discussing the topics below. Of course, on the DNP level, we want your conversation to be scholarly. Please use references as appropriate.
Directions:
This is an “informal” assignment and is intended to be a free flowing discussion and interaction among peers. Please follow APA formatting/structure for all other aspects of the discussion. Peer reviewed journal references are highly encouraged for your postings and will strengthen your points within the discussion (see rubric).
Student engagement and participation in this discussion is both required and vital to your overall success. It is intended that you each “share” what you know with your classmates, provide constructive feedback to the posts of your peers, and make suggestions/recommendations to each other. Please read most all of the entries and then chose the two that you would like to respond to. You will lose points for not reading other posts.
This discussion question will be “worth” a total of 10 points of your overall grade for this course. Grading will be assigned by the faculty based on the quality and content of your posts; your level of participation in the discussion will be considered in the grading. Students are expected to cross post to at least 2 peers in the discussion. Your cross post should provide a substantial posting that offers new or additional information to what was originally discussed. Including “I agree” or “nice work” comments do not constitute as a substantial cross post and may affect your grade. A copy of the grading rubric is provided for you below.
Page Limit: Page requirement is 2 pages for the initial post and no more than 1 page for the cross post.
GRADING RUBRIC:
Initial Posts will earn a maximum of 8 points and your cross post will earn a total of 2 point. Your cumulative points will follow the guidelines below. Keep in mind you may have earned an A on the initial post, but a B for the cross post. Therefore, you score will reflect both responses.
A=90-100% The activity is prompt, timely, relevant and self-initiated. The activity demonstrates thoughtful consideration of the reading material and substantive body of evidence to support the activity as directed. The activity has references to the text, or other sources or has meaningful reflection to the topic. Basic APA, spelling, grammar and writing style are followed.
B= 80-89% The activity shows an understanding of the content; however skills are at more of a basic level. The activity rationale is not clearly supported with reading evidence and or references. Minor issues with APA, spelling, grammar or writing style are evident.
C=70-79% The activity comments are short or do not add much to the question proposed. The activity demonstrates only a shallow grasp of the material. Comments are not supported with references or reading application. Major issues with APA, spelling, grammar or writing style are evident.
D+ 60-69% The activity has minimal substance and comments. Contributions reflect only personal or anecdotal experience with no clear evidence of readings and or scholarly references. Activity is posted on the last online day.
F=0% No activity is submitted by student within designated time.
