he last supper my Leonardo da Vinci
For the analytic type of paper, you are not making an argument. You are presenting information in an objective fashion without making value statements or otherwise engaging in persuasion / argument. However, let’s say you are researching one particular aspect of your topic, and the research seems to be contradictory; one credible source claims X, yet another credible source claims Y. What do you do? You report, in objective voice, that scholars differ and both X and Y are presented in credible sources. It is not your job to say that X is right and Y is wrong. Leave that to your reader
REQUIRED LENGTH: Due to the abrupt transfer of our class from a face-to-face format to online format, I have reduced the page requirement. The paper must be five full pages minimum and seven pages maximum. A paper not meeting minimum length will fail by default. A paper in MLA format does not have a cover page. The Works Cited page at the end does not count as a “page” in terms of page count, nor do any pages devoted to an appendix. I do not rely on word count; the page count is used to verify that you meet minimum length. See the “MLA Help” module on Canvas (or click the link near the top of this page) for much more information about MLA formatting.
Note: A “page” is defined as a full page of text. If you write four full pages and then fill half (or anything less than 100%) of the fifth page, your paper will fail. Around six pages is a good place to be on this paper to ensure you are meeting minimum length but not writing the absolute minimum.
REQUIRED SOURCES: So that you explore different types of credible sources, please note the minimum source requirements:
at least TWO peer reviewed (“scholarly”) journal articles from one or more databases;
at least TWO credible sources from the internet. Be sure the source is legitimate / credible. We will discuss in class how to assess credibility of web sources.
(optional) Any other source that you think appropriate, e.g. information from a personal interview, a blog, a video, etc. Examples could include a book, video transcript, personal interview, online blog, e-book, etc. There is no maximum on the number or types of sources you consult and cite, but be sure all are credible.
BANNED: Anything from Wikipedia or other online encyclopedias. (These sites are not appropriate for academic research).
These are just the minimums. For example, a student’s paper could very well reflect research from four journal articles (from the databases), one book, two internet sources, a video transcript and one personal interview. In this way, the student meets the minimum source requirements with additional sources of his or her choice.
AVOID the first and second person (“I,” “me,” “my,” “you”).
I will attach the specific questions that need to be answered that I have outlined for my professor. they are : Research Questions:
1. Who is Leonardo da Vinci? (More specifically his background on his familial life and his artistic life)
2. What was the root cause of painting “The Last Supper”?
3. What was the process of painting the last supper? How long did it take? Where?
4. Who are the disciples in the painting and what is their meaning/relevance?
5. What (if any) are the symbols and hidden messages within the painting?
6. What restorations have taken place since the painting was completed and how has the public had conflicting views on them? (This question is to aim directly at the door being added however, there will be other restortations talked about)
These will need to be answered ideally with their own sections. everything needs to be in MLA format including the works cited page.
