STRUCTURE:

SECTION I: IDENTIFICATION AND EVALUATION OF SOURCES

OBJECTIVE​: In this section you are required to analyze in detail ONE source that you will use in your investigation. This should be the source that you consider the most reliable, and important to your investigation.
● The source can be either primary or secondary.
● You must clearly state the question you have chosen to investigate

● Include a brief explanation of the nature of the source you have selected for detailed
analysis, including an explanation of its relevance to the investigation.
● Evaluate The Source In Detail With Reference To The ​origins​ ,​purpose ,​and ​content​, you should analyze the ​value and limitations​ of the source in relation to the
investigation.
● NOTE: Make sure each of the highlighted words above are addressed.

– SECTION II: ANALYSIS
WORD COUNT: ​Approximately 1,000 words
OBJECTIVE​: Critical analysis that is focused clearly on the question being investigated. This is an essay response.
● Introduce the context of your question and indicate the direction of your argument in response to the question in the first paragraph
● Develop your answer in the body paragraphs that draw on the sources you have used, particularly the source you analyzed above
● Write a concluding paragraph where you draw from your analysis from above

OBJECTIVE: ​Reflect on what undertaking this investigation highlighted about the ​methods used by​, and the ​challenges facing​ the historian.

● A bibliography, and clear referencing of all sources, ​MUST​ be included using
CHICAGO STYLE​ format.
