– THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOCUS ESSAY
– Discuss one of the given broader development challenges (impacts of globalization, or the tension between state sovereignty and human right, or development sustainability) by examining a specific development issue (you can choose one)
– The goal is to provide a critical and solid understanding of macro development challenge through a unique and actual development example
– You MUST integrate at least 2 analytical concepts discussed in the lectures. (I will upload a review sheet of the concepts that we did in class including the theories (I prefer you to choose and connect the material with 2 of the development theories for international development which is: Modernization, Dependency, Neoliberalism, The Developmental State. I will also upload detailed notes about these 4 theories but feel free to make research. Please do not just read and put 2 theories into essay randomly, I need valid connections). Also, I expect the writer to look at the other keywords list that I will upload and use these concepts/words in the essay by making connections such as Millennium Development Goals esc. in addition to these 2 development theories that you will choose.
– The writer need to demonstrate the explicit interconnection between the macro development challenge and the micro development issue you are discussing. For example, you could elaborate on the interconnections between development sustainability and the negative effect of mining extractivism on indigenous livelihoods.
– Elucidate the significance of your approach and WHY the micro development is relevant to the discussion of the broader development challenge
– Discuss key factors as well as ACTORS that cause the development problem. YOU NEED AT LEAST ONE EMPIRICAL CASE STUDY TO CONTEXTUALIZE THE MICRO DEVELOPMENT PROBLEM
– Identify overarching dilemmas and obstacles that are inherent in the given micro problem and explain WHY these dilemmas are central to the understanding of the macro development challenge
– Propose potential solutions! At least 2 with details and reasons
– DO NOT FORGET TO CREATE YOUR CENTRAL ARGUMENT, POSITION, PERSPECTIVE REGARDING THE MACRO DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGE.
– You must develop an argument and present your position analytically, logically and empirically.
