1. Explain and describe the membership, voting structure, and primary goals and powers of the WTO, the IMF, the World Bank, the ILO, the ICJ, and the ICC (bullet points are probably a good idea for this one!)

2. What features of the UN Charter make the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the P5) so powerful? Why, in your opinion, has almost every state in the international system chosen to join the UN, given that it concentrates such tremendous power in the P5?

3. What is the nature of the conditions typically attached to World Bank and IMF loans? On balance, do you thing that these conditions are a good or bad thing?

4. How much, if at all, do you think that norms shape and constrain state behavior? Do you think that Finnemore and Sikkink’s (1998) norm life cycle model accurately describes the emergence of norms? As always, why or why not?
