In this week’s chapters, Repko discusses a couple of different interpretations of Interdisciplinary Studies. For your post this week, consider the following questions, referring to the text when necessary.
Consider the distinction between “Critical Interdisciplinarity” and “Practical Interdisciplinarity” (pgs. 76-80). Which conception of interdisciplinarity studies is most relevant to your academic career or your future goals?
Consider the “Metaphors of Interdisciplinary Studies” (pgs. 80-87). Which of these metaphors makes the most sense to you at this point in your academic career? If you do not like any of these metaphors, can you think of one that fits better into your personal situation?

In chapter 4 of the textbook, Repko outlines several skills and characteristics typical of students of interdisciplinary programs. He classifies these into the following groups: Intellectual Capacities, Values, Traits, and Skills.
For this week’s post pick one intellectual capacity, one value, one trait, and one skill mentioned in the text that you think is most important to the field you are interested in going into. Why are they important? Which of these characteristics do you think already describe you? Which do you think you have room to grow in?
