Introduction to Sexuality Studies
Assignment #2 – Annotated Bibliography
Due: (7pm) November 24 via Moodle upload, hard copy due in tutorials**
Weight: 15%
For this annotated bibliography assignment, you are being asked to research the following subject:
Explain the relationship between normative sexuality and “abnormal/deviant” sexuality in one of the
following contexts: racialization, dis/ability, gays and lesbians, or trans* people.
Your annotated bibliography must contain:
1. A thesis statement answering/addressing the essay question (as if you were going to write a paper on
it)
2. Annotations for 4 external, academic texts and 3 academic course texts (drawn from any relevant
week)
Note: creating a solid argument (i.e. your thesis statement) will require you to focus your topic. Your TA will
have suggestions on how to do this.
Each annotation should include the bibliographic information of the text using APA style. Annotations should
be two paragraphs long: a one paragraph abstract/summary of the text and one paragraph explaining the
text’s relevance to your paper using the PARCA/CRAAP test.
To assist you in writing your bibliography, the following documents have been posted on Moodle in the Critical
Skills section: annotated bibliography guidelines, PARCA/CRAAP test, and APA citation style guidelines.
Additional Guidelines:
The thesis statement and each individual annotation should be on their own single page. As such, for this
assignment (unlike a majority of your university assignments), you may write single spaced. The length of the
assignment is 8 pages (not including a cover page) in 12 point, Times New Roman font, with one inch margins,
and page numbers.
Assignments should have a formal cover page that includes an original and relevant title (not Assignment #2 or
Annotated Bibliography) your name and student number, the course code, your TA’s name, and the date the
assignment is being submitted.
**Please note, until a hard copy is handed in to your TA, late penalties continue to accrue. See syllabus for
further details.
