Journal Paper Write-Ups

Students are responsible for all papers listed in the syllabus by reading and writing up a short summary for each paper. You will need to submit your write-ups in the Dropbox on Pilot before class begins on the due date of the paper. Please refer to the course schedule for specific due date of each paper. For empirical research papers, your write-up needs to summarize:

1) All the theories covered in the literature review;

2) The theory(s) this paper examines;

3) Data and Methods of this study;

4) Evidence and conclusions provided by the author(s);

5) Are you convinced by the author(s)’ arguments and conclusions.

6) Are there any limits and errors (logically or technically, or both) in this research paper; and

7) Can you think of any other research questions from reading this paper?

For theoretical and survey papers, your write-up needs to summarize:

1) Main points and highlights of this paper;

2) Motivation;

3) Implications;

4) Weaknesses;

5) Your overall comment on this research;

6) Future Research Ideas.
