Julius Caesar

Write a five-to-seven page paper that analyzes the importance of one scene from Julius Caesar from the entire play. You should discuss why this scene is important for understanding one of the play’s major themes. One possible theme is the ability of individuals to exert influence or control over masses of people. Another is the theme of racial and national identity as a means of inclusion/exclusion. Yet another is the theme of patriarchal anxiety, influence, and guilt. You SHOULD NOT connect your analysis of the play to any of the secondary reading materials.

Grading criteria
Remember to support your analysis through specific line interpretations. Remember to single-space block indent quotes that take up more than 5 lines on your page. Remember to give act, scene, and line numbers at the end of every quote. Try to introduce every quote with some contextualization. And try to follow up every quote you’ve given with some analysis of why the words in that quote pertain to the theme that you are discussing.

You will be graded primarily based on your ability to comprehend and write about the text you’re analyzing. Try to keep plot summary to a minimum, and quote analysis to a maximum. Every page should have either discussion or analysis of a quote from the text.

Requirements: 5-7 pages, double-spaced, 1” margins, Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, stapled, page numbered at the bottom. No plagiarized materials.
