In this assignment, you will use evidence drawn from the course and your own research to
continue creation of a series of literacy lesson plans for diverse students. The Module 2 lesson
plan will be built around different genres of literature used for instruction to strengthen literacy
through scaffolding and to maximize the learning of diverse students at various stages of
development.
Course Objectives
• Analyze the importance of providing opportunities to connect prior knowledge through
the use of scaffolded instructional models aligned with neuroenhancement of literacy
learning.
• Explain how literature can be incorporated with instructional practices to maximize
cognition of diverse learners at varying stages of development.
Directions:
1) Save and print the Module 2 Application PDF.
2) Create a paper in a Word or text document for your response. Use 12-point Arial or Times
New Roman font. Follow APA (6th editon) format for the paper, the title page, references
page, and in-text citations.
3) Develop an introduction and conclusion for your paper.
4) Follow the directions to submit your final Word or text document.
Step 1: Introduction
Write a introduction to inform readers of the background, importance of the study and
lesson plan, and what to expect throughout the body of the paper.
Step 2: Noteworthy Topic(s)
Identify one or more noteworthy topic(s) from course reading and presentations to
implement into practice. Discuss the importance of the topic(s) supported by
scholarly/research literature.
Step 3: Integrating Literature
Identify at least two age-appropriate pieces of children’s or young adult (YA) literature
from two different genres that lend themselves to application of the chosen topic(s).
Create a lesson plan using the chosen texts to address reading and literacy instruction
presented in Module 2. Use APA (6th edition) guidelines to incorporate the lesson plan in

the text as a visual display or include it in the Appendix. Access the lesson plan template
from the Module 1 assignments page.
Step 4: Justification
Justify the creation of the lesson plan using materials provided for the Module 2 readings
and presentations and with at least one expert source not included in the course
materials. Discuss how the lesson plan will enhance learning in the chosen discipline.
Provide examples from scholarly/research literature to support choices of lessons
included in the plan.
Step 5: Conclusion
Create a conclusion based on the concepts and objectives presented.
Step 6: References Page
Compile a reference page of research/scholarly literature references used as evidence
in your text and parenthetical citations using APA (6th edition) format.
Step 7: Compile and Review
Compile the components of the paper into an initial draft. Review the criteria of the ACE
Master’s Assignment Rubric to ensure all predictors align with the information provided
in the paper. Proofread the paper from start to finish paying close attention to typos,
tense agreement, and clarity. Reading the paper aloud is extremely beneficial.
Step 8: Final Review and Submission
Make necessary revisions, and submit the paper.
