Meeting of Minds
This sheet contains two Essays. A & B. You are to do both, but be sure to submit each finished essay in its own ASSIGNMENT folder.

You can do the questions in any order.

Essay B: A Meeting of Minds / (70 Pts)
Through the magic of time travel (otherwise known as literature) you have emerged in a near future populated by holograms of great literary figures of the past. You are seated at a large table in a Star-Bell coffee and taco shop, and seated with you are Confucius (Analects), Lao Tzu (Dao), Sin-leqe-unnini (Gilgamesh),Vyasa (Bhagavad-Gita) , Li Bo and Rumi (their poetry) There is an empty seat at the table in case you want to invite another writer.
The coffee is good, the fire warm. Confucius is scribbling Analects on a Napkin, thinking he might not like his best quotes diminished to fortune cookie filler. Loa Tzu is taking a stroll and returning now and then to the table, just going with the flow, Vyasa is meditating. Sin-leqe-unnini is carving his initials in cuneiform into the tabletop, Rumi is whirling and writing, and Li Bo is looking for the correct few phrases to depict the scene.
Anyway, the conversation suddenly turns serious, as the authors have discovered that they have turned up in World Literature class that for some reason lumps them together. They turn to you—after all, you have the wisdom of time travel—and ask you to solve their problem.
They want an answer from you regarding three related questions(So do I).
1. They want to know why their works have survived across many years and many eras.
They also want to know if their appeals are universal- that is, is each work applicable anywhere.
Finally, they want to know which single work of all of theirs is most likely to be remembered 1000 years from now, and why you feel that is so. ( One work only-not one from each writer!)
