Q: Do we have to include a works cited page? How many citations do we have to include?
A: Please do include a works cited page. The good news is that the work for that is already done! This should not be annotated. Only include the sources that you actually cite in your executive summary. Strong executive summaries will rely on your research, so it would not be appropriate to cite only a single news source or a single academic article. But, while you might have compiled 10 news sources for the annotated bibliography, you might only include information from 5 of these in the executive summary. You may use all of the academic sources, or only a couple. Use internal citations (for example, Name 2018) when citing the work that you are relying on in your executive summary and list only those sources in the works cited page (rather than include ALL the items from your annotated bibliographies). *Please see the attachments of prior bibliographies.*

Q: What are the formatting requirements?
A: The executive summary must be no more than 3 pages long (excluding the works cited page). It must be double-spaced in 12 point font (preferably Times New Roman) and have 1 inch margins.

Q: How should I organize the executive summary? Is there a rubric?
A: You will want to have an opening statement, with brief background information. You will want to proceed to the purpose of the research study, explain the method of data gathering and analysis, and present your findings.

Executive Summary Rubric
FORMAT: 3 page summary, 12 point font, double-spaced, 1 inch margins.
RESEARCH: Incorporates material from news/academic research and cites appropriately. Includes works cited.
INTRO: Provides well-executed opening statement.
PURPOSE: Describe the purpose of your research study. Clearly describes the purpose of the research study.
METHODS: How/why was the data gathered or analyzed (need not be original data or analysis). Clear explanation of the methods employed.
FINDINGS: What were the findings? Clearly provides an overview of the research findings.
