Montaigne’s Cannibals

Read the uploaded Reading-Of Cannibals, then write an essay to answer the following 4 questions (Q&A format):
Explain in your own words: How does Montaigne make his argument? Does he have a clear thesis? If so, describe its strength / development. [Consider describing this with a creative analogy (ie Montaigne’s essay is like a …)]
Montaigne draws material from other sources (the beginning of the essay has heaps of quotes) and from testimonies (he hears stories from other people and sketches them into his essay). Regarding the latter category, the author claims that one type of person is likely to give an honest testimony. What type of person is that? Do you agree or disagree with Montaigne?
“Of Cannibals” was written around the time of Shakespeare’s Tempest and reveals similar concerns, too. In the essay Montaigne exposes certain flaws in contemporary ideas regarding civilization and barbarism. He questions whether civilization really conceals some barbaric aspect, and whether so called barbarism might in fact illustrate a more peaceful life. What are some of the examples that Montaigne uses to prove this point? Find at least three. (But try to compose your answer as a single paragraph!)
The subjects of Montaigne’s writings were vast: anatomy, poetry, politics, agriculture all found their way into his long, somewhat winding paragraphs. One theme drew all these topics together, though, and that was doubt. Montaigne used doubt as a philosophical tool. He also used it regarding his own identity: he refused to make any certain claims about himself. It’s difficult to say whether Montaigne was committed to any single principle (aside from doubt itself?). Test Montaigne’s idea: Write two or three paragraphs of self-analysis (autobiographical, in this case, please write to suit a Chinese international student, and a girl). Avoid writing anything certain. In both content and form the reflection should not have any certainty — doubts only (interpret this with some creativity!).

Cite the Reading in MLA style ONLY
I also uploaded a MLA_Requirement.pdf and you must refer to it and write 100% correct in-text citations and “Works Cited” Page. Failure to use correct citations will fail me in the essay since my professor was extremely picky. After receiving your paper, I will check every in-text citation and make sure they are from the right page, NOT fake citation. If you do not use correct citations, I may request a full refund. I don’t hope this to happen so please be responsible.
