On Harvey within the Regression Project sub-folder of the Course Content folder, you have been provided an Excel file called _RegressionProject which provides an analysis of a specific dataset which involves several of the topics we covered in Chapters 12-13. Your assignment is to identify a set of data and perform a similar analysis on that data, including annotating your spreadsheet with commentary showing an understanding of concepts in the analysis. Your data set must have at least three potential predictor variables, though your final model may have fewer. Pay particular attention to the need to identify a final model that you believe provides the most logical model of the data. The creativity score will be highest for a good dataset you collect on your own, of moderate value for data I provided in the Datasets subfolder, and least for a data set obtained from your text. Note, however, that choosing your own data requires a solid understanding of the problem such that you can understand critical concepts such as logical cause-and-effect. You may work individually or in groups of up to 3. If you work in a group, the spreadsheet you submit must contain the names of your other group members, and all group members should provide a brief explanation of their personal contribution(s) to the project – i.e., which aspects of the analysis did you personally contribute?

The following steps provide assistance regarding how to proceed.

In Course Content, select Regression Project. Carefully read the above expectations. Under Points Possible, select View Rubric as a way to get a more detailed explanation of the specific aspects of your project which will contribute each element of your grade.
Select your dataset for analysis. The Rubric illustrates that the data you select will play a role in your grade, particularly for aspects like creativity.
Using my _RegressionProject spreadsheet to assist, run a regression on your data, but analyze the results and work your way toward a parsimonious model, preferably with significant predictor variables which don’t exhibit multicollinearity. Name your spreadsheet LastName_FirstName. E.g., my spreadsheet would be named Humbolt_Allen.
You or your group may ask for my opinion about certain aspects of your analysis prior to submission by emailing your spreadsheet to me along with your question(s).
