Develop a four-paragraph answer (one introductory paragraph, two body paragraphs, and one
concluding paragraph) to the following topic:

Compare or contrast the use of narrative perspective in Monkey Beach and Pride and
Prejudice. How are the narrative perspectives similar, despite their apparent difference as
primarily first and third person? How are the perspectives different, beyond the obvious?
To develop these questions, more specifically, you might consider how the differing
perspectives influence the way the reader experiences the stories, you may consider
whether any problems arise for the reader as a result of the perspective. You may
consider how the experience of discovering, interpreting, and knowing the truth is the
same/different in these texts. To link your comparison to our big questions about
knowing the truth, consider one or more of these questions: Can the reader rely on Lisa’s
experiences (and her perspective) to help us interpret the truth accurately? What, if
anything, interferes with our ability to do this? By contrast, can the reader rely on the
