open letter to local administration

For the final written assignment, I am suggesting that you write a letter to your local elected official . It is going to be close to impossible to attend any advocacy groups because most sessions have either been canceled or access is restricted. If you find one that you can attend virtually, that would be fine as well but you will have to provide the information about how you accessed the site.

I am suggesting that iinstead, you write a letter to your local politician. The letter will not be mailed but submitted via blackboard.

The format of the letter should follow the two guidelines highlighted in red below. Pick an issue that you think is important in health care right now. Then, discuss your experience and/or knowledge with this topic/issue. Finally, appeal to the local elected official to encourage or create a policy to address your specific issue/topic.

The letter should be 1-2 pages and should specify the policy issue and further action as needed.

The write up should follow the following format:

I.) Introduce the policy/advocacy topic for this activity and provide a description of the importance of the issue to health care, nursing and public policy.

III.) Discuss your experiences of this activity including what you knew about this issue/topic prior to the activity, what you learned from participating in this activity and what you can do to impact policy related to this issue.
