In groups of (4), students will work together AND form a hypothetical sport organization. The organization concept MUST be approved by the instructor.

Organization idea submission is to be submitted by one member of the group via Canvas to the professor. The project for the course involves applying the concepts and principles learned from the course and incorporating those items into your organization. You are to create a hypothetical recreational or sport organization and explain and describe in full detail the below characteristics of this organization.

A description of the chosen organization in terms of its goals, structure, and processesWhat are the mission statement, stated goals, and operative goals of the organization?Is there a hierarchy in the organization’s decision making process? Explain how the organization is structured.Who is your competition and how will your business thrive in comparison to other businesses similar to yours?A description of the jobs and their designIdentify main duties, responsibilities, working conditions, and the needed human characteristics of each unit of the organization.How do you view the entire operation of the organization?An outline of staffing procedures including recruiting, hiring, and trainingWhat are the steps of the organization’s hiring process?How does the organization train their employees? Any specific training procedures?A description of the performance appraisal and reward systemsHow does the organization evaluate organizational performances at the individual level, individual programs unit level, & organizational level?Does the organization have any specified performance appraisal and reward systems? What are they?A description of the threats and risks associated with this type of businessHow does the organization minimize risk?

Your group is expected to profile your respective sport organization, providing interesting and relevant information that will tell the story of the organization. A professionally bound report on the organization is expected at the end of the semester. Information the group should provide includes but is not limited to the mission statement, objectives, vision, a general view of and expenses revenue (where applicable),and an organizational chart among other functions.

The goal here is to provide you with information on the inner workings of sport organizations and allow you to develop and display critical thinking skills and the ability to present all sides of a policy or issue and its impact. The groups will be self-selected, NOT instructor-assigned.

A LARGE PART OF THIS ASSIGMENT IS WORKING AS A TEAM. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMMUNICATION WITHIN YOUR GROUP AND INSTRUCTOR WILL NOT HELP FACILITATE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN MEMBERS. I WILL DEDUCT POINTS IF YOU TURN IN THIS ASSIGNMENT WITHOUT THE REQUIRED FOUR (4) MEMBERS. NO EXCUSES, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Due Date: by 11:59pm – NO EXCEPTIONSLength and Format: You will present organizational project as a 12-15 page research paper with a minimum of 5 sources that allowed you to compare your hypothetical organization to other REAL organizational findings, similar to yours. In addition, students may attach other material from the organization (e.g., statement of goals, organizational chart, job advertisements, rules and procedures, etc.). If your project has less than 12 pages, points will be deducted.
