Paper Research
1. Introduction: Briefly introduce your main topic. What question are you addressing? What are
the objectives of the annotated bibliography? (3-5 sentences)
2. For the reference, you must summarize the following:
a. The hypothesis or hypotheses that was/were tested or, for papers that do not explicitly test a hypothesis, the question/s the study sought to answer.
b. The methods used. You should focus on the overall experimental design (e.g., what species and behavior/s were studied; whether the study was observational, involved experimental manipulations, conducted in field or in lab, etc.), types of methods (e.g.,
behavioral tests measures of reproductive success, hormone assays or implants,
comparative analysis, etc.), and types of outcomes measured (e.g., specific behaviors,
numbers of offspring produced, hormone levels, evolution of the behavior on a
phylogeny). You do not have to go into tremendous detail. For example, you don’t have
to include doses of drugs or chemicals used, time of day at which procedures were done,
brand names of equipment or supplies, or names of standardized questionnaires.
c. The major conclusions drawn.
d. How does this research relate to your main topic (introduction)?
