position statement of an organization Assignments | Custom Assignments Help

revise and improve the argument(prior version stakeholder, the document I posted) based on the arguments other two and feedback.

Summarize all the sides of the controversy represented in the discussion and state your position (or stance) on the issue.

•Explain several (2-5) pieces of evidence you have acquired from cited reputable sources that led you to your conclusion. Demonstrate your mastery of the issue and knowledge of the facts.

•Consider at least two other stakeholders’ (as represented by your classmates) viewpoints, their validity, and why you respectfully disagree.
When referring to the other stakeholders, leave the name as XX1, XX2 so I know which one you’re referring to.

Feedback: You might change your phrasing a bit in your statement about when irrigation can be done (if the water level is sufficient for fish, an extra could be allocated for irrigation.

Other Stakeholders 1:

as a representative of southern Oregon, study why the water of the Klamath River should be used to irrigate farmland rather than as a fishery. In today’s speech I searched a part of the information to prove my point.
First of all, I studied the water quality of the Klamath River. As far as I know, the water quality of the Klamath River no longer supports the survival of fish. There are a lot of poisonous algae in the river, which will cause a large decrease in the species of fish.
Secondly, in the presence of the dam of the Klamath River, many fish died because they could not spawn upstream, and the dam created a good environment for toxic algae to reproduce. When fish are threatened, people’s health will also be threatened, because many people make a living from fishing. When eating harmful fish, it will harm more people. Therefore, the water of the Klamath River is not suitable for fishing.
And I think the Klamath River water should be used for irrigation. In terms of water quality, there are more nutrients in the water, which can make crops grow better after irrigation. In the shallow reservoir, the Klamath River has a lot of nutrient-rich water. If it is not used for irrigation, it will endanger the health of people and various fish.
When artificially irrigated, this would waste water and be inefficient, and irrigation would be slow, resulting in drought of crops. Using technology can improve irrigation. When river water is used to irrigate farmland, this can save manpower, and increase efficiency. In many places, rivers are needed for irrigation because of insufficient rainfall and crops are always dry. This is a lot of information I searched about the Klamath River, and why I support the idea that river water should be used for irrigation rather than fisheries.

Other Stakeholders 2:

Commercial fishing can be defined as when fishermen take fish from bodies of water with the intention of selling them to markets or other customers. The controversy around commercial salmon fishing is that commercial fishermen are not going out to intentionally catch salmon. Then when they catch the salmon they are not returning them back to the water. The development of climate change has been depleting the fish and salmon populations. This not only hurts the salmon but it also hurts the communities that rely on fishing to make a living.
Some scientists are estimating that by 2048 there may be no fish left in the world. This is due to irresponsible fishing.

I am a stakeholder for the Commercial Salmon fishing industry. I feel that salmon fishing needs to be limited. Even though commercial fishing employs around 250 million people they can be smarter about where they fish and when they go. Fishermen can easily find out what salmon look like during different stages of development. If they catch a salmon that is obviously young and not completely developed they should have to throw it back into the water. As humans we live in a fragile ecosystem that we need to take care of and work with. If we do not allow the fish populations to reproduce before we catch them then soon enough there will be no fish left to catch.

The United States and Canada have a treaty called the Pacific Salmon Treaty. With this treaty scientists are able to look at things like how many Canada-bound sockeye salmon are caught in US fisheries and how juvenile salmon respond to environmental changes in coastal southeast Alaska. Even with treaties like this we are not able to stop fishermen from using different methods to catch their fish which can be extremely detrimental to the environment. One of the worst fishing techniques in bottom trawling. This is when fishermen drag their nets across the bottom of the ocean floor. In doing this they stir up the sediment and damage things like the coral species which are vital for preserving healthy ecosystems in the ocean.

We as humans need to learn to live with our ecosystems instead of thinking that they are ours for the taking. We need to make sure that we are keeping the ecosystems around us intact while we still take care of our own needs. With regards to the environment we need to learn how to work smarter.
