Part 1: Comprehension – Worksheet
Start reading the article by Monem and Fillmore, 2016. Specifically, start by reading the abstract to make sure you have a general understanding of the purpose, method and result of the experiment. Answer Q1 on the worksheet. Then, read the introduction section and the methods section of the article. Define any terms or tools that are used in the experiment, making note of what they measure and how. Answer Q2, Q3 and Q4 on the worksheet; you will submit the worksheet for grading.
For the results section, instead of reading, look at the figures presented in the article. For Figures 2, 3 and 4, answer the questions in the worksheet for each figure (Q5, Q6 and Q7). Once you are clear on what was measured, complete the section in the worksheet that asks for a one-sentence summary of each figure (Q8).

Next, answer the following question FOR EACH GRAPH: Does the graph directly assess the authors’ hypotheses? If so, does the graph’s findings support or refute the authors’ hypotheses (Q9).
