A) Title page
You will need to follow APA guidelines for the title page.
B) Introduction Paragraph
You need to identify the general questions and topics you will be discussing in your paper. You need to define the concept you are discussing. For example, if your paper is on the effects of drugs on retroactive interference you need to be sure to define and discuss what retroactive interference is. You will need to cite several sources to help you do this. Tell me why it is of interest to study this process in learning. (Why is it important?) Back up your comments with summary statements from the book or other readings.
C) Body of the paper
1. Summary of the article:
• What was the central question that was explored? What was their hypothesis?
• Briefly explain their methods
• What evidence did they find to support their hypothesis?
• What are their major conclusions?
2. You are required to make two points in your research critique. These points should be critical analysis, your reaction to the paper, or both. You should state your points and provide examples and/or explanation in support of them. Be sure to include a header for each critique.
• Strengths/problems of methodology
• Criticism of author’s conclusions/interpretation
• Your ideas for the practical application of the research
• Personal experience that is consistent (or not) with the research
• Implications of the research not discussed by the authors
• Comparison of this research to other research on the topic
D) Reference Page
You will need to follow APA guidelines for the reference page.
Your grade will reflect both the content of your paper (the extent to which you provided an accurate summary, thoughtful critique, and solid ideas for future research) and the extent to which you have communicated your ideas clearly (this includes clarity in writing, grammatical errors, misspellings, typos, etc.). Thus, your grade on this assignment will reflect both what you have to say and how you say it.
