Requirement for Individual Case Report
You are expected to analyze each case and answer ALL the questions in your case report. Show the detailed working process instead of simply show a solution.
The report should be submitted by 7 pm on the due date via the link on Blackboard. No late submission will be accepted.
The report must be typed using MS Word Times New Roman 12pt font, double-spaced, and no more than 800 words (EXCEL, Tables, Calculations, etc. exclude).
Include a cover page with the case number, your name, and the class section.
Use citations and references.
Tables, charts, figures, etc. are required when appropriate to make the reports more concise and intuitive.
Case reports must be completed by individual (although group discussions are allowed) and submitted in WORD/PDF format by uploading to the applicable homework to Blackboard.
Avoid copying & pasting others’ solutions, or other plagiarism problems.
Your efforts on the case reports will be reflected more in class participation and exams. Many of the exam questions will be similar to the case questions.
Expect to spend 3-6 hours for each case (you might spend more time for the first several cases since you need to get familiar with everything in the beginning)
To control for the workload and make your learning process more efficient, please follow the following instructions:
Review for related lectures before you start the case report. Except Case 1, all the rest cases are closely related to lectures, so after reviewing for the class contents, you will find it much easier to complete the case report and you can spend less time without checking the lecture notes back and forth.
Try your best to limit the time you spend for the case report to 3 hours. If you have spent more than 6 hours and do not have time to continue due to any reason, you can claim so at the end of the case report; then you will not be penalized by not answering ALL the questions (you will earn full credits in this case).
Try your best to get the best solutions within the 3-4 hours’ limit (rather than spending unlimited time for perfect solutions). It is totally fine that you have some uncertainties in the first try, I hope you can learn from the presentations and discussions and figure out the answers through this learning process.
If you did not get the perfect solution in the first try, do participate the discussion in the case presentation and make sure you get the answer from the class. Review the case again the same (next) day immediately after the case presentation. You are likely to have similar questions in the exams.
