Research Methods for International Business

The task for the report is to conduct empirical research on any research topic of your choice related to international business. Some examples of topics and research questions are provided below (next page), but you may choose a different topic if you like. Your methodology can be quantitative or qualitative or mixed, but you must collect your data using secondary sources only. Various sources of secondary data and their availability have been discussed in the teaching sessions. If you are using quantitative data, you must use a good number observations to base your statistical analysis depending on the context of your research – you may contact the module convenor over this. Further guidance is provided below in terms of the structure of the report and marking. If you are using qualitative data (for case study), please note that company websites alone cannot be counted as reliable sources – you can use them to provide background information about the company in your report; but you must complement this with other sources such as news articles or other reports. Overall, once you have formed your group and decided on a topic you could discuss with the module convenor on the data collection and analysis methods.
