Research Paper Assignment

Purpose: The introduction should discuss the background literature related to your question and set the stage for the remainder of the paper.
Content:
1. Introducing the topic,
2. situating it in context,
3. identifying the existing literature and any gaps in this literature
4. “hooking” the reader
5. Ending with the specific question that your Capstone paper will address in the form of a question.
Resources:
1. APA manual, Chapter 2: Manuscript Structure and Content, pages 27-28
2. Eby (2012), Chapter 8: Writing the Introduction In general, and clearly lead to the reason you are asking your final question. Review examples of introductions in the articles assigned and discussed in class.
Prepare no more than 2 pages (double spaced, 12 point font, 1 inch margins) that introduce your Question. Your paragraph should start out broadly and narrow down to your question. Refer to Grade Rubric for more guidance.
