Research Paper Pitch:
It is very possible that the teachings of Islam have been tainted by its very own Islamic scholars: Sayyid Qutb is a primary example. Qutb wanted to change his society completely and he disagreed with the way his community was conducting itself, the way he expressed these feelings provided the building blocks needed to create radials. Many views him as a founder of radical Islamic thought. Since the terror attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001 Islamic culture as a whole has definitely become a topic of controversy. The Muslim community is misunderstood due to this same occurrence of radicalization within the community. Radical Islamic terror groups are one of the main causes of this. Most Americans are extremely familiar with the name Osama bin Laden a member of al-Qaeda, the terrorist behind this historical 9/11 attack. He is responsible for almost 3,000 deaths, rising over the years due to recurring illness of on-site responders. This day has definitely changed the United States and the outlook of the people in an extremely frightening way. Rightly so, citizens have been saddened by the censored world that we have been subjected to. The USA Patriot Act was implemented shortly after the attacks by then President George W. Bush, put in place to combat terrorism against the United States. It is unfortunate that Americans Must live this way, but Muslims as well now subject to have this negative association. Were any of these actions directly rooted from the teachings of Islamic scholars? In The Shade of The Qur’an outlines Sayiid Qutb’s works and has been an extremely valuable piece of literature to the Islamic community. By examining his work, we can start to fully grasp Qutb’s views the Qur’an which is helpful in tracing his participation in creating a radical society.
